I've managed to do incredibly well with the beers this year, but I still somehow got conned into a Miller Highlife. Miller Highlife is just so nasty that it has to be damn near frozen and drunken ridiculously fast. Can't stand that crap. What's the worst you imbibed?

$30 a bottle. Coz 'Straya import cunt. Tasted fucking atrocious.
The only saving grace, it worked well when used to make brownies.

I heard about it and stayed far away.

Tasted OKish, but just a couple gave me a filthy hangover the next day.

Never heard of that.

I only got it because it was Rogue. Their Brutal IPA and Hazelnut Brown Nectar, mana from the gods. But this stuff...I can't even put into words how bad it was.

Had a TNT beer that I found in buddies truck from at least a year ago. It was throw worthy then, real real bad now.

Yes.
It's a tossup between that and the bacon-BBQ-brisket-backwash beer in the other pink bottle.

WHY DID YOU TURN?!?!?!?!?
![]() 12/23/2013 at 21:51 |

I'm sorry. That's a terrible choice. Why? There are so many sub-par big brand beers that don't taste good but are cheap and readily available. Miller Highlife, PBR, Bud, Busch… They are all interchangeable. Sure they have subtle differences that make one maybe 'better' than the other but basically they are all the same.
My choice? I will pick two. Mainly because one is from a semi-big brewery.
Magic Hat Hibiscus cucumber. Fucking What?! Terrible.
This beer. Aecht something oak smoked something or other. I had it on tap and I thought it was terrible. could barely finish it and only because I didn't want it to go to waste. It gets good reviews but it was not tasting good the time I had it on tap
![]() 12/23/2013 at 21:51 |

If that was in stock, I would have picked up a bottle. Because bacon. Then the regret sets in.

I forgot all about this one! Someone got it as a birthday gift and it was passed around. I don't think a single person liked it at all

I'm telling you honestly that miller highlife was the worst I've had all year. I'll stand by that statement.

Any reason why?

I should have known better. You do always have good beer posts. Maybe it is just something with being used to people saying, "ugh don't get milwaukee that's the worst beer ever, get keystone" *shudders*

I was jobless for a few months. As such I got to try a number of questionable beers, the majority of which were on sale
Have you ever had an expired Mickeys? Or a Natty Light that had been sitting uncooled for months? Have you ever opened a bottle of M.D. 20/20 and looked forward to it? No? Then you have not had shitty booze
![]() 12/23/2013 at 22:02 |

No, I just tend to avoid all of that crap. I do have a soft spot for Red Stripe though, mostly because when it's 97 degrees with about 110% humidity a cold Red Stripe makes me a happy Time Lord.

Went to a friends uncles place. He insisted we sit down and talk and have a beer. Not wanting to insult the man, I opened it and took a sip and let it sit.

Then you understand. I implore you, go to your nearest liquor stop and buy the oldest, dustiest can of shit you can find and power through it
It needs to be done, every once in a while, to remind the discerning beer drinker that there is always worse than what he has in his hands

Ok. I may hold you to that ;)
So, apart from the obvious, I haven't had a "bad" beer. The most disappointing, however, would have to be Newcastle's Werewolf. It was not different enough from their Brown Ale to justify either the sticker on the bottle or the price
![]() 12/23/2013 at 22:13 |

I have turned into such a beer snob I can honestly say I have not had a bad beer in 2013. Maybe Boulevard brewery pisner. Last year I tried a 40 of OE just for fun. That was pretty bad. Hands down worst than highlife and keystone lite. That's saying a lot.

I was at Rock Bottom in Minneapolis last week and had a beer prior to meeting some friends for dinner. I didn't pay much attention to the menu and ordered their stout. I didn't realize it was a coffee stout until the first drink. I hate coffee.
![]() 12/23/2013 at 22:17 |

That's when I reach for a PBR. It's my go-to cheap beer: easily drinkable so it doesn't go warm before it is gone, actually palatable, and low enough ABV to soldier through a 30 pack without getting drunk :)

I love coffee stouts, but I do not like IPAs

Today I had a coors light that, although cold now, had been sitting at room temp for a year. Our work is cheap, they wouldn't even buy us a new 2-4 of coors light, with our own money that we use for social events.

I still drink PBR, Olympia, occasionally some other ones that are cheap but mostly when out riding, biking, or camping. There is room for the nicer beers in there, but sometimes I prefer to be drinking something more but not getting as drunk as I would be drinking a bunch of good beers. If that makes sense.

"...makes the world go round." I just don't like the taste of coffee. I have had the opertunity to try some very good coffee, and it still tasted bad to me. When I come across it by accident it is not a welcome thing!

honorable mention from last year:
I think it's called Third Shift because it was made by a chain smoking third shift employee who ashed in the beer out of spite. miserable beer.

Not my type, pretty strong. Not a big beer drinker so I find really strong beers a bit off putting. Give it awhile and I'll probably like it more.

But the crazy thing is that this junk has an 82 on beeradvocate! What!?

There are still guys who believe Real Men can only drink a Budweiser product. Strangely Bud Light is preferred over plain old Bud. So that's what was poured down my gullet at Thanksgiving. None of that pansy ass craft beer or microbrew shit. Real Men drink Bud.
Sick sick sick.

Duck Rabbit Milk Stout. They shouldn't have used expired milk maybe.

True that. I consider myself a beer connoisseur, but I'm not above reaching for a Rainier or Silver Bullet every now and then.

Rogue did a Maple-Bacon flavored Voodoo doughnuts thing that was one of the strangest beers I've ever tasted.

Beer 30...
Yeah that's a thing. Somebody brought it to a buddy's re-bachelor party, so of course we had to try it. Supposedly it's made by Miller... I'm guessing it's whatever was cleaned out of the floor traps in the brewery after it was filtered through a dirty jockstrap. It was BAD and I've been known to drink some pretty vile things; for example I may or may not have sucked a spilled drink out of a nasty-ass carpet one particularly drunken night. My recollection is spotty at best but my friends insist that it happened...
Oh yeah, back to Beer 30... It tasted like the carpet drink probably did, if I could remember...

I have heard of this beer, sounds terrifying. Have you had Third Shift? Made by Coors(?) my review below.

I actually ALMOST bought a six-pack of that. I've always been highly suspect of "Gold Medal Award Winner" claims ever since it occurred to me that PBR was "Americas Best Beer" in 1893... AND THEY'RE STILL BRAGGING ABOUT IT!
![]() 12/24/2013 at 00:32 |

I think you're the first other Aussie I've heard talk about Rogue, no one else I've met knows them. Even when I went to a beer tasting club.
![]() 12/24/2013 at 00:51 |
|
I wouldn't expect many Aussies have had it unless they've hit the U.S., it's a pain in the ass to get their stuff out here. Dan Murphy's has started stocking some and a place in Sydney called the Oak Barrel gets random ones in.
I'm still trying to find somewhere that stocks any of the Dogfish Head beers, and importing it into the country is nigh on impossible.

This is a situation where brand rules taste. And if the marketers have their way, that's the way it should stay. Luckily, we have the inetnet.
(Hung out with Bud drinking oldsters for the past couple years.. gods but what a waste of good drinking potential.)

It's a fairly ordinary Polish lager that a Polish friend came back from the shop with. Really nothing special about it apart from the hangover it induced.
I much prefer Lech.
Nice, clean, hoppy lager, great in summer.

I'm a little delayed on my response (family, blah blah) but. There's a time and a place for cheap, crappy beer. I love a good craft beer, micro brew, import...a generally good beer. That's all I buy, and generally all I drink. However, when one is at a bar in the middle of nowhere, or at a social gathering taking place surrounded by cornfields, one drinks the Busch Light that is offered. And one enjoys it.
That being said. I will almost flat out refuse to drink Mickey's/O.E./any other crap malt liquor that isn't even beer.

Plonk! in Canberra is more or less the closest bottle shop to my work. It gets an amazing range.. I think maybe the largest range in Australia? their twitter account says they have 1300 varieties of beer and cider.. though from the size of their shop I think some of that must be hiding in a stock room. I definitely recommend it if you're ever in the area.
I can't recall seeing Dogfish Head there, beercellar.com.au is my fall-back if I'm really after something I can't find anywhere else.
![]() 12/25/2013 at 19:21 |

I've been to Plonk! Good selection there. It's a drive down from Sydney though so I'd be doing a day trip for beer.
Dogfish Head doesn't even have full U.S. coverage so finding it here is pretty hard. There's one site that I keep frequenting looking for a stock update, but I haven't seen it change in years.

Miller High Life is fine cuisine compared to most of the shit my peers here in South Carolina pour down their gullets. It doesn't help that I live 2 miles from the Budweiser bottling plant. I've had to make do with Natural Lite once this year and I regretted it as soon as it hit my tongue.

Being a college student, I fucked around and drank this:
Pretty bad, but at $12 for a 30-rack, it was worth a shot.
